Representatives of the National Petroleum Committee of Serbia - World Petroleum Council (NPCS - WPC) visited the State Data Center in Kragujevac

Representatives of the National Petroleum Committee of Serbia - World Petroleum Council (NPCS - WPC) visited the State Data Center in Kragujevac, a visit that was arranged by the NPCS - WPC Digitization Workgroup at the workshop held on December 1 last year at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

Their host was Boban Mihailović, Assistant Minister for Information and Telecommunications and Sector Director for the State Data Center and Srđan Simović, CTO at Data Cloud Technology.

Mihailović and Simović showed the guests the premises and equipment, as well as the IT modules and power supply systems, introduced them to the employees, and explained the work performed by this Center. This unique facility in this area was opened in December 2020, it covers an area of 14,000 square meters, has a planned installed power of 14MW and a capacity of 1080 rack cabinets.

Guests from the NPCS - WPC had the opportunity to see a supercomputer and an artificial intelligence zone, which makes Serbia one of only 27 countries in the world that have a state-owned AI platform.

Mihailović and Simović explained to the visitors that the Center ensures safe storage of data of a large number of state bodies, including the security sector. In addition, projects of implementation of server technologies and technologies for data storage, creation of solutions for virtualization, etc. are managed here. The hosts emphasized their significant role in the process of digitization in Serbia, safe storage of data from registers, state authorities, and domestic and foreign companies.

Mihailović pointed out that this facility is the most modern data storage center in the region, and that it was designed and built according to the highest technical, environmental and safety standards and that it meets the 99.99% uptime availability standard, which is why it has a TIER 4 classification level. Among other things, the hosts proudly pointed out the fact that the Center they manage meets the highest certification standards.

Simović emphasized that this is one of the reasons why the State Data Center in Kragujevac has signed contracts with a number of multinational companies such as IBM and Huawei, and they particularly emphasize the cooperation with the IT company Oracle, established in in May last year.

The representatives of NPCS - WPC thanked the hosts for the excellent visit and expressed an initiative for further developing cooperation to their mutual satisfaction.
