BIOGOS Expert Workshop in Belgrade

BELGRADE, Feb 18, 2014 – Within the CEI co-financed project „BIOGOS – Implementation of Directive 2009/28/EC in the Field of Biofuels and Transport in the Republic of Serbia – Transfer of Best Practices“ the first expert workshop was held in Belgrade on 18 February, 2014.
The event, hosted at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, gathered members of the National Petroleum Committee of Serbia – World Petroleum Council, representatives of Serbian state institutions and ministries, state agencies and oil and gas companies. The participants were introduced with the preparation of legislation in the field of biofuels in Croatia, the challenges in the implementation of Directive 2009/28/EC in Croatia and on European level, as well as the system of Croatian legislation in the field.
At the same time, the obligations of the Republic of Serbia with respect to the implementation of the Directive were presented, with overview of the existing national legal framework, as well as the situation in the biofuels’ market in the country.
The results of the discussions and exchange of experience in the expert workshop shall form a basis for the preparation of a set of recommendations for the legislative acts in the field of biofuels in the Republic of Serbia.
The BIOGOS project is co-financed by the CEI Know-How Exchange Programme sponsored by the CEI Fund at the EBRD and is jointly prepared by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of the University of Zagreb (Croatia) and the National Petroleum Committee of Serbia – World Petroleum Council (Serbia).
